چکیده

Objective: To compare the efficacies of percutaneous vertebral angioplasty (PVP), percutaneous kyphoplasty (PKP) and conventional open operation in the treatment of spinal tumor. Methods: Forty-seven patients who admitted to our hospital were divided into three groups: PVP group (treated with PVP), PKP group (treated with PKP) and control group (treated with conventional open operation). Visual analogue scales (VAS), Karnofsky Performance Status (KPS) and numerical rating scale (NRS) score were scoring methods within different groups, and X-ray examination, recurrence rate of postoperative pain, complications and other indicators were indicators for the comparisons between groups. The average follow-up period was 3~24 months with the average time of (17.61 ± 3.96) months. Results: Three months after operation, the total effective rate of PVP, PKP and control group was 86.7%, 94.4%, 57.1%, respectively, and the efficacies in the PVP group and PKP group were significantly better than that in the control group (both P < 0.05). All patients had significantly lower VAS score, lower NRS score and higher KPS score after the treatment compared with those before the treatment (all P < 0.01). Patients underwent PVP and PKP showed that the height of the vertebral body was not collapsed by X-ray examination. There were significant differences for the total recurrence rates between the PKP group and the control group, as well as between the PKP group and the PVP group (both P < 0.05). There were significant differences for bone cement leakage rates between the PKP group and the control group, and between the PKP group and the PVP group (both P < 0.05). The survival rates had significant differences between the control group and the PVP group (P = 0.045), as well as between the control group and the PKP group (P = 0.035). Conclusion: PVP and PKP can effectively relieve the pain of patients with spinal tumor, and PKP can significantly reduce the complications of bone cement leakage under the premise of ensuring the operation effect.

Percutaneous kyphoplasty for the treatment of very severe osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures with spinal canal compromise

BACKGROUND Very severe osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures (vsOVCFs) are osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures with vertebral body collapse to less than one third of their original height. Few data are available about the use of percutaneous kyphoplasty (PKP) in treating vsOVCFs with spinal canal compromise. The aim of this study was to evaluate the safety and efficacy of percut...

The clinical effect of percutaneous kyphoplasty for the treatment of multiple osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures and the prevention of new vertebral fractures.

This study aimed to investigate the clinical effect of percutaneous kyphoplasty and the precautions against adjacent vertebral refractures in the treatment of multiple osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures. 54 cases (128 vertebrae) with multiple osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures from July 2007 to December 2013 treated with percutaneous kyphoplasty were retrospectively reviewed...

Percutaneous balloon kyphoplasty for the correction of spinal deformity in painful vertebral body compression fractures.

Vertebral body compression fractures can cause chronic pain and may result in progressive kyphosis. Although vertebroplasty has been used to treat pain, it does not attempt to restore vertebral body height and eliminate spinal deformity. Percutaneous balloon kyphoplasty is a novel technique, which involves the introduction of inflatable bone tamps into the fractured vertebral body for elevation...

ترمیم مهره از طریق پوست( Percutaneous Vertebroplasty)

Percutaneous vertebroplasty is a promising therapeutic technique for pain control in patients with pathologic fractures of vertebral bodies. Percutaneous vertebroplasty is an appropriate treatment for vertebral pathologic fractures, which is resistant to other usual treatment. It is a useful and only choice in special cases, because of less tissue damage and there is no risk of open surgery and...

Failed percutaneous kyphoplasty in treatment of stage 3 Kummell disease

RATIONALE Albeit it is rare, the authors report a stage 3 Kummell disease case. It is diagnosed by dynamic thoracic magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Because there is no established strategy on stage 3 Kummell disease, we performed percutaneous kyphoplasty at first, but unfortunately made a revision surgery to remove the polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) cement after the failure of percutaneous kyp...
